THE FIRST BOOK OF THE Kings
king David was old and stricken in years they covered him with clothes, he no heat. Then came there two women that were harlots unto the king and stood before him. And the one said O my ord I and this woman dwell in one housend I was delivered of a child with her in the house. And the third day after that I was delivered, was delivered also: we together no stranger with us in the house save we two . And this child died in night she overlaid it.
And she arose at midnight and took my son from , while thine handmaid slept and laid it in her bosom, and her dead child in my bosom.
And when I rose in the morning to give my child suck, it was deadut when I had it in the morningehold, it was not my son which I did bear. Hiram heard the words of Slomon, he rejoiced greatly and said Blessed be the this day which hath David a wise son over this people.
And Hiram sent to saying I have the which thou sentest to me forand will all thy concerning timber of edar and fir. My servants shall bring them from Lbanon the seand I will convey them by s unto the place that thou shalt me, and will cause them to be discharged there, trees and fir trees h desire. And within the he made two herubims of olive tree, ten cubits high from the uttermost part of one wing unto the uttermost part of the other were ten cubits.
And the other herub was ten cubits: both the were of one measure and one size. The height of the one herub was ten cubits, and so was it of the other. And he the the inner housend stretched the wings, so that the wing of the one touched the one wall, and the wing of the other touched the other wallnd wings touched one another in the midst of the house. And he overlaid the with gold.

In the fourth year was the foundation of the house of the laid, in the month Zifnd in the eleventh year in the month Bul which is the eighth month, was he seven years in building

ll these were of stones measure sawed with saws within and without, even from the foundation unto the , and on the outside toward the great court. And the foundation was of stones great stones of ten cubits and of eight. And above were stones hewed , and edar. And the great court round about was with three rows of hewed stone and row of edar the inner court of the house of the and the porch of the . And it was in the heart of David my father to build an house for the name of the God of Israel. the said unto David my father it was in thine heart to build an house my name, thou didst well that was. Nevertheless thou shalt not build the house but thy son that shall come out of thy loins, he shall build house my name. And the hath his word that he spake

But indeed dwell on the earth? ehold heaven heavens contain thee how much less this house that I have ? the prayer of thy servant and his supplication O my God, to unto the and prayer which thy servant prayeth before thee dayhat thine eyes may be open this house night and day, the place of which thou hast said, y name shall be there: that thou hearken unto the prayer which thy servant shall this place.
